Failure of Help / Software Updates command
Solution The Help / Software Updates command installs a free upgrade from Notation products to the most recent "minor" release (where the first digit major release number is the same). This feature ws introduced in Notation (Composer, Musician, and Player) version 2.2.

In choosing the Install Update option (after you choose the Help / Software Updates command), you might get the following error message:

Could not start the automatic update (2)

This is a known problem for Notation Composer and Musician versions 2.3 and 2.3.1 running under Windows Vista.

If you get the above error message, then there are two work-arounds. The first, quicker work-around is to run the following program, that was installed with Notation Composer or Musician on your system:

\Program Files\Notation\Composer\wupdate.exe

or

\Program Files\Notation\Musician\wupdate.exe

If the wupdate.exe program does not successfully update your copy of Composer or Musician to the latest version, then the second work-around is to completely reinstall the latest version of Notation Composer or Musician. The instructions for doing so are at: www.notation.com/Redownload.htm
