Re: Stuck notes

Hi, Tim, Sherry:

The stuck notes are the ones where the two tenor voices overlap, at the A-natural on beat 2 of bar 46 and at the Ab on beats 1 and 2 of bar 51. Same thing happens on the second...

Re: Software amplification for choir practice files

600 pieces?

You people have one heck of a repertoire! :D

I just have the one tune that keeps running through my head.

Re: Software amplification for choir practice files

Hi, Tim:

It sounds as though you are using Windows built-in synth as your playback device. Many laptops are notorious for low sound output. My wife has one that, on full volume, can't be heard...

Re: Chord Builder to score

Hi, Terry:

The chord transcription options in Composer are intended to work the other way -- to go from notation to chord names, rather than from chord names to notation.

So, no, the Chord...

Re: Playback starts several measures earlier than I click

Hi,

It sounds like the "Play pickup measures" is "on" for two bars.

Forgot about that feature!

Re: Playback starts several measures earlier than I click

Hi,

It sounds like you are using Alt-Space to initiate playback, which puts Composer in Practice mode. Plain old Spacebar starts normal playback.

In Practice mode, Composer will play a "n" bar...

Re: Guitar strumming

Yes, but Beethoven was such a curmudgeon he probably would have insisted on parchment just to be cantankerous. :D

I noted a while back that handwriting experts have analyzed the urtext of Für...

Herbert said :PS The last sentence above should read: If he had a computer and “Notation Composer”, ..."

Yes, Wagner would have used a computer.

Beethoven, on the other hand, would have said,...

Re: Guitar strumming

Hi, Paolo:

As Herbert said, midi editing is time consuming. On the other hand, far less so than learning and recording a new instrument, so there is a trade-off. :D

To edit attack and release...

Re: Guitar strumming

Hi,

You can use the Arpeggio ornaments in the Trills submenu (TR with a tilde under it) of the Notes And Rests menu.

"au" adds an upward "strum" to a group of 3 or more notes. "ad" adds a...

Re: the word [options] by opening a midifile

Hi, Ton:

Can you attach the "Green green grass of home [options]" file to a post so that we can have a look at it? I can't seem to find it through Google.

WE'RE BACK!

Happy to have my morning fix on line again.

We need some thundering, thanks to John Phillip Sousa.

Here's an excerpt that I arranged for a show last fall, as underscore music.

Re: help with Alesis QX61 keyboard

Hi, Jeremy:

I'm surprised at that. Notation Software products are very robust at finding and connecting to midi devices.

You might try deleting your MidiDev.cfg file (back it up, first) which...

Re: help with Alesis QX61 keyboard

Hi, Jeremy:

I don't know the Alesis keyboard, but I have a similar problem with a Zoom digital multi-track recorder that uses USB.

It seems that Win 7 64-bit doesn't recognize devices with...

Re: Note length issue

Hi, Krevez:

In the two Keyboard parts, you have sustain pedal down events at bars 44 and 45, respectively, with no pedal up.

Use Graphovernotes (TM) and select the pedal icon to see the events,...

Re: Trouble openging a not file

Hi, Charmalique:

That usually indicates a corrupted file, for some reason or other.

Notation Composer saves files automatically as backups, and you may be able to recover a more or less...

Re: Lyrics - blank lines when copying between staves

Hi, Tim:

If there is anything entered into a lyric line on the target staff, even an empty space, then the pasted lyrics will be put into a new verse. So, in effect, you will see an empty line...

Re: Lyrics - align left for chant lyrics

Hi, Tim:

You're right in that Composer doesn't have an option for lyric alignment. (Am I missing something, Sherry?)

You could enter the lyrics as free text and position them as you need. ...

Re: GP6: Slide in middle of a note

Oh, and, while Notation Composer doesn't have specific guitar ornamentation, you can simply add a small free text element saying "Hammer-On" -- I assume the beginning of the slide is a hammer-on.

Re: GP6: Slide in middle of a note

Hi, MacNab:

I'm curious as to what the "GP6" at the beginning of the title means.

In Notation Composer, there is a "Lines" item in the main pallette that will let you add graphic elements that...

Here's an obscure bug for medieval music afficiandos

Hi, Sherry:

This one is so obscure that I'm not even sure it's a bug.

Attached is a piece from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana that I'm working on for a possible future production.

Based on...

Re: New Sonata for Two Flutes, Caniel Purcell

Hi, Blane:

Very enjoyable. I love Purcell.

Changed the voices to recorder, as per your note, and it has a nice haunting feel to it.

Thanks,

David
