Before anyone spends any time on this, I think I may have answered my own question. I am researching font sizes and I think I have my answer.

Full Score Printing

I have tried all the variations I can think of, but I can't find a way to print a full score and have white space between the staves. The photo I have included is a very poor rendition of one...

Even though I have been using Composer for quite a while now, I have never used the preformatted templates. I have created a series of templates on my own, and generally start a new song with one of...

Re: Mountain King Swing - in progress

Hi Sherry,

You get a delayed response from me due to travel commitments, but I finally got a chance to listen tonight. First, I have to say, Clarice (my Clavinova) did not like the percussion...

Re: Instrument Definition files

Sherry and I have been having an offline discussion about this topic relative to my Yamaha Clavinova, and I am (I hope) becoming more knowledgeable about the INS file and how to use it. With...

Re: Harlem Nocturne Septet

Hi Sherry & David,

Thanks as always for the compliments. I have had a lot of fun over the early years and now again with this song.

Very interesting to see your use of the shorthand slash...

Re: Mountain King Swing - in progress

Hi Sherry,

You are doing an excellent job! I like the variations in color, and you shouldn't demean your drum part -- it is quite infectious. I did you the honor of transporting your Composer...

Harlem Nocturne Septet

“Harlem Nocturne” was written by Earle Hagen and Dick Rogers in 1939. This was the other “Nocturne” in my band’s repertoire, the other being my theme song, “Autumn Nocturne”. This arrangement again...

Ritards and Resumption of Play at Tempo

There is a problem in Notation Composer dealing with ritards and resumption of play. If your score includes one or more ritards and you start and stop the playing of the piece, play resumes at the...

Sentimental Journey Duet

"Sentimental Journey" was written in 1944 by Les Brown and Ben Homer and was the first #1 Hit for Doris Day.

This arrangement just about wrote itself. I can hardly take claim for it, as I have...

Re: Repeat Measure Symbol

I have expanded a little on David's suggestion (I like the % also, but not as much). I hid the rest and created the three Free Text objects for the period, slash, period, individually (for precise...

Re: Chord Names for Rhythm Section

Hi David,

I used to use that form of notation until computers made it easier to do full scores.David

What do you use for notating open chord sections? I started off by using the quarter rests...

Re: Repeat Measure Symbol

Thanks for the suggestion, David. Your approach is certainly no more onerous than my slashes for chord symbols.

Whole note rests can't be hidden so you have to divide them into smaller rests...

Repeat Measure Symbol

As I was writing for my own purposes, i.e., notating in Composer and listening to/playing along with on my Clavinova, it didn't matter to me what the drum part looked like, as long as it sounded...

Re: Writing for Drum Set

I've created a little "cheat sheet" for myself for what I use as standard dance/swing/jazz band drum notation. It doesn't have to be this rigid, but it is what I am using. Essentially, drummers...

Re: Writing for Drum Set

I recall that several years ago, drum set notation was set for an upgrade, perhaps along the line of my original post below. Words being tossed around in the 2008-2010 time-frame were mentioning...
