The Continental Duet
"The Continental" was written in 1934 by Con Conrad and Herb Magidson for the movie, "The Gay Divorcee". In the film, Ginger Rogers sings this song to Fred Astaire and then they dance together. In 1935, "The Continental" was awarded the first ever Oscar for the category Music (Song) from a movie.
This song is notated as Pop Swing and I have adjusted the attack and duration of the eighth notes to try to simulate this feel. This is another long song, so the printed score is three pages long. If you would like to see the lyrics or the chords, you can use Composer commands to display them: for lyrics use qsl; for chords use qscn. Ralph R. Rayner |
